We love telling stories with our photography and that is where Guardians: Never Forget Documentary
gets its beginnings from. There is a ton of projects out there about veterans and the most amazing
part is they tell no info other than an image. Though sometimes an image is worth a thousand words
the representation of the subject is minimal and normally from the view of the artist. So, I thought how
much more impactful it would be to read the veterans’ words and experiences from the veterans
themselves.
I wanted this project to be different, in that it would not only show the image of the veteran, but we
would hear a piece of their story in their own tone and voice.
With that, the veteran being
photographed would sit with me and my team and would tell us their story, these will range from time
in service, the story of their experiences, wisdom, and honor to those that came before them or those that
they have lost. These are stories that cannot be forged or replicated yet those that were emblazoned
on the hearts of our heroes. We want to be respectful to our heroes that donned the uniform and
picked up selfless service as a way of life. Through Guardians Never Forget Documentary personal
stories and experiences like it can be replicated not only from veterans across the nation eventually
we would like to turn this documentary into a traveling exhibit. This project is about the unification of
a people through the support of those who put on the uniform for them.
